On March 13 the Village of Canal Flats council met for a short regular council meeting.
First up, council received a letter from the Columbia Basin Trust confirming grant funding for a new housing project. More information on this project will be announced over the coming weeks and months.
Council then reviewed and approved a letter drafted to be sent to other governments and elected officials regarding funding needs for various infrastructure projects in the village.
The external funding tracker, a document that keeps council informed of ongoing external funding like grants, was provided and received.
Finally, council unanimously approved giving the community notice that they will consider issuing a development variance permit for 8877 Grangier Rd. The application seeks to rebuild a garage that was destroyed by fire, on the same foundation. However, the previous garage did not adhere to current zoning setbacks and will require a variance permit prior to construction.
Staff will now notify any property owners within a 100 metre radius of the subject property and return to council with any responses.
